Hero the Therapy Dog: A New Addition to our Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs
There’s a new pup in town here at Serenity House. And we couldn’t love this little fella any more.
Meet Hero. He’s hanging out with us and bringing smiles to our faces. He’ll begin his official therapy dog training upon his first birthday and in the meantime, is socializing with our staff and clients.
While our substance abuse counselors and community-centric support system already provide a sense of home, Hero adds to our comfortable environment as he greets people and sits in on group and private counseling sessions. His calming presence helps many with stress management and provides emotional support. His bright energy keeps us social and active, too.
Having Hero here sets us apart. It also gives our patients another opportunity to heal through true companionship, provides another source of unconditional love, and delivers the opportunity to teach and learn in a whole new way. We’re so glad to have him here.
