June is more than the beginning of summer—it’s a season of visibility, remembrance, and renewal. At Serenity House, we use this time to elevate conversations around addiction recovery, mental health, equity, and hope. Whether you're on your own path to recovery, supporting a loved one, or simply seeking to understand more, this month is filled with powerful moments worth recognizing..
Pride Month: Recovery Is for Everyone
We affirm that every identity deserves a safe place to heal. Throughout June, we’re highlighting the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in recovery and offering stories of strength, support, and self-discovery. We stand with the LGBTQ+ community—because true recovery is rooted in acceptance and belonging.
Juneteenth:
On June 19th, we honor Juneteenth—a day marking the end of slavery in the U.S.—by recommitting ourselves to equitable care. Addiction does not discriminate, and neither should treatment. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a full, self-sufficient life free from substance use and societal stigma.
International Yoga Day (June 21)
Healing isn’t just emotional—it’s physical and spiritual, too. Yoga and mindfulness are powerful tools we encourage in our programs to reduce stress, manage cravings, and restore balance. This June 21st, we invite you to try a breath, a stretch, or simply a pause.
International Day Against Drug Abuse (June 26)
This is a day of global awareness—and a powerful opportunity to act. Whether through donations, education, or advocacy, your support helps us fight the cycles of addiction and illicit drug use that devastate families and communities.
PTSD Awareness Day (June 27)
Many who face addiction are also living with trauma. PTSD Awareness Day is a reminder to acknowledge the invisible wounds people carry and to extend compassion, not judgment. Our holistic care model ensures that trauma-informed practices are part of every recovery journey.
As we enter summer, let’s move forward with compassion, courage, and clarity. Recovery is possible—and it’s more powerful when we walk together.
