DON'T GIVE UP!

Recent budget cuts have placed the future of substance abuse treatment at great risk.  The statewide effects of these cuts are devastating:

$43 million cut from addiction services; more than $11 million cut from programs and
serving women and children, youth in treatment, youth in the community court system,
    people addicted to methamphetamine.

Budget reductions will result in a loss of $55 million in federal matching dollars.

Over 42,000 individuals currently in the treatment system could be thrown out on the
streets as the result of these cuts.

These cuts will have a significant impact on the enitre community - untreated mental health and substance abuse impacts everyone and just some of the consequences include increases in overdose, crime, prison/jail overcrowding, fatal alcohol and drug related crashes, domestic violence, and child abuse.

We cannot send enough messages to our government leaders regarding this travesty.  Call, visit, write, email, or fax your local legislator and let them know that these cuts and the ensuing consequences are unacceptable.
