Now is the time of the year our legislators make budget decisions which have a profound effect on funding for substance abuse treatment in the coming months.

The number one preventable health problem in this country is substance abuse, with an estimated 23 million Americans in need of treatment.

Current capacity only allows 25% of those people access to the care they so desperately need. Capacity is limited due to funding. Funding is limited due to competing needs. Political interests will determine to which extent these competing needs are funded.

Two of the most critical needs facing substance abuse treatment today are awareness and capacity. We are asking that you contact your local legislator and voice your support for increased treatment funding.
